B & I found out, this week, that some of the baby furniture was available for pick up, and of course we are pick-up truck-less.....so we had to ask some friends for help!
Robert was our helper that volunteered! :) I was able to get him a 6pack of beer before the whole fiasco, put a Thank You Note on it and a bow!!!
Friday night, after work, we all headed to Baby R Us to see what all could fit in what vehicles. The armoire fit perfectly, like a glove, in Robert's van, but the crib was not going in the Jeep, unfortunately. I sent the men on their way with at least one piece of our furniture in their HOT suits to unload & I go back into the store to find out how to get the crib back in their stock to wait for me to find a truck in the next few days to be able to come back and get it.......
The manager says to me "that man said he would take it for you" and I just looked at him like "yea, whatever" and I went on asking the 9 million questions I felt I needed to ask to make FOR CERTAIN that my furniture was NOT given to ANYONE else in the next few days!
and I hear "Ma'am, WHERE DO YOU LIVE?"
I turn around and see this pregnant girl saying "Where do you live? We have a trailer, we are picking up our furniture too, we could just drop it off there for you!"
I say "Oh no, that is OK, I live off of Old Brownsville Road, it is kind of far out..."
and she says enthusiastically "WE LIVE OFF OF OLD BROWNSVILLE TOO!"
I say "are you sure?"
the husband, soon to find out his name is Brad, looks at me and laughingly says "Yes, if it doesn't fit on my trailer then something is wrong"
and of course, on the drive to the house, with them following, I cried....there are good people in the world.
So, long story short, God sent this wonderful couple into our lives that day to help with a long awaited headache to come.....
I found out their names are Tammy & Brad, they have been married for 14 years, they have been together for 17 years, they met when Tammy was a Senior in High School, they are both originally from Memphis, they don't really live THAT close to us, but still went out of the way for us, this is their first child, Brad works for a doctors office (I believe), close to where I work, Tammy is in IT for the 7th largest IT company in the country, they like to hunt, her Uncle & Aunt used to have a lake house in Paris, they are having a boy like us, thinking of the name "Matthew" because of the meaning - "a blessing from God", and she wouldn't give me her address, but I did find out her last name, and said "just pay it forward" (and then she told me about how she had just been at WalMart and a few 20 something year old adults helped her load her purchase into her car, she of course cried too! ha!)
BUT - I found them in the phone book....I told her I would find her! and I am sending them a card with a little happy in it!!
Poor Robert sweated to death in his suit trying to unload all this stuff into our garage!
THANK YOU SO MUCH Robert for your help! It means the world to us and we appreciate your friendship more than you will ever know!!! :)
You definitely get a Good Deed button for Sweating It OUT! :)
B & I were able to dolly the pieces of furniture up into the house and get it parked for the night....and Saturday and today have been a whirl wind of "getting it together" I am sore! ha!!!
but it is all starting to come together and we are so excited!!!!
Just a few pictures of the progression!!! :)
