My Birthday!

for my actual birthday, Momma and Daddy came down and made me Sloppy Joes!  I know it is random, but I asked for Sloppy Joes.  Momma's are so good!  Much better than I can do and I try to do her recipe!  :) Brian got me a Banana Cake with Chocolate Icing from Muddy's!  YUMMY!  :)
I had such a great day!
Not bad to be 34!
:)

****

This is one of my cactus!  The bloom was AMAZING!!  You should have seen me when I saw the bloom out the window!  I ran for my camera and phone like it was going to wilt before my eyes like in Dennis the Menace with Mr. Wilson's Night Blooming Cereus!  and do you know that the next day it was wilted!??  So, I GOT IT!  It was truly spectacular!  I don't know that these pictures do it justice!

Momma brought these beautiful roses for me!

They are called Lipstick!  :)

 My Muddy's Cake!

These flowers were from the boys!  They are SO STRONG and a few got wilted from outside but they are still special!  :)
Here is to another year!

Funnies!

Leaving for daycare the other morning Pierce says to me: "Sun in eye, Momma, Sun in eye!"
I said, "give me just a minute P, as soon as I back out of the driveway, it won't be in your eyes"
P says to me:  "I idea Momma!"
I said, "You have an idea?"
Pierce:  "Yes!"
Me:  "What is it?"
Pierce:  "I fight the sun, High Ya!"
and with a karate chop to the sun we were off to daycare!  :)

******
Picking the boys up from daycare in the afternoon time, the car is hot!
So, I usually have the A/C on full blast when we pull out of MJ's driveway.
On down the road, Pierce says "TURN THE WIND DOWN MOMMA!"
and after him repeating it about 50 times, I FINALLY get he wants me to turn the A/C down!
:)

******
I was getting ready one morning.
Here comes Reid to join me.
Then here comes Brian
THEN here comes Pierce.
Pierce kept going in and out of the bathroom door and closing it and opening it.
Brian decided to mess with him and lock him out!
Pierce started knocking and saying "let me in!"
Brian says "What is the password?"
and what do ya'll think the password in a house full of boys is??????
Pierce:  "POOPY!"
Brian let him in.
Glad to know the password in to our house now don't you?

Say Hello to......

Howard!
He is Elmood Cemetery's adopted cat!
and his birthday is August 28th!
The cemetery said "if you bring Howard some food, you can do a free tour"
Mom and I did that yesterday and had so much fun!
The audio tour was good, and after we finally got our bearings, we were on a roll!!!!.... somethings I just took pictures of because I liked it, not because they talked about it!

Monument depicts the heritage of the Traveler or Romani People.

 Governor Isham Green Harris

 Wade Hampton Bolton
Realistic monument depicts Bolton's actual appearance, with one shoe untied and his vest mis-buttoned.  He was killed Court Square in downtown Memphis in a family feud that took eight lives.

 Donoho Mausoleum

Alice Jesse Mitchell
Distraught young woman who murdered Frederica Ward after their failed attempt to run away together to be married

University of Tennessee Section and Myra and Fred Dreifus Section - reserved for those who donate their bodies to aid in medical research.

The Chapel

The cottage originally built in 1866.
Originally the superintendent but now serves as the Cemetery's office.

Through the Chapel window!

  • We saw where Mary Berry was buried - the 1st person to be buried at Elmwood in 1853.
  • Interesting story about Alma Theede = known as Vance Ave Alma, she was accused of shooting 3 of her 6 husbands and serving time for 2.
  • Mr Edward Pembroke - Duckmaster for many years at The Peabody Hotel.
  • "Ginny" Mood - Confederate spy, who went on to act in Hollywood movies.
  • A section called No Man's Land - memorial to more than 1,500 yellow fever victims who were buried in unmarked graves
We hope that Howard's tummy is full for a few weeks, as our minds were surely full when we left!
If you are ever in the area, I think that it is a sight to see!
